Get a Radiant Smile with Affordable Dental Veneers in Twickenham
Veneers are a great way of enhancing your smile as they can disguise a number of different imperfections including stains, chips, gaps, and mis-aligned teeth. In some instances, the best treatment option may be to combine veneers with other treatments. Often we might use veneers for the upper teeth and tooth whitening for the lower teeth. Or, if the teeth are misaligned, we may use adult orthodontic teeth straightening techniques to align your teeth before correcting the shape and colour with veneers to create healthy, happy and beautiful smiles.
In some instances where only very small changes are required it may be the best option for us to use Tooth Bonding, this is where we apply a tooth coloured ‘putty’ to your tooth, we then contour it to replace missing corners, rebuild broken tips or build up fractured teeth. This technique is often more cost effective than veneers and is a minimally invasive option as it results in retaining as much natural tooth as possible. When you come in for your assessment we can discuss with you the indications of bonding and decide whether dental veneers or bonding are right for you.
What are dental veneers?
Veneers are very thin layers of porcelain which are bonded to the front of your teeth. The porcelain used is very strong, it is a mixture of feldspar and quartz, these 2 minerals are what make up the bulk of granite, so you can see, dental porcelain is tremendously strong – this porcelain is then refined to remove all impurities until it is highly translucent and looks exactly like natural teeth. It is then built up by a skilled technician to look exactly as you want your new teeth to look.
This patient had veneers to correct 3 concerns:
- The teeth were twisted and not in line
- The teeth were also looking dark
- The teeth were too triangular and not a nice shape
Dental veneers allowed us to reshape their teeth and remove the triangular look of them. This person also suffered from a black triangular space between the front teeth towards the gum. It was possible to produce a more natural and hygienic appearance – a significant improvement through minimally invasive technique.
This patient could have been treated only with tooth whitening, however it would not have addressed the concerns the person had over shape and teeth mis-alignment. So overall we felt that veneers were the best option for them. The other pictures show some more examples of how Veneers can bring life to your smile right here in our Twickenham practice.
We will always look at the finer details before having a detailed discussion with you to ensure you have the absolute best treatment option.
